Michael is a graduate of Mansfield University in Pennsylvania where he studied with Dr. Adam Brennan and Professor Conrad Alexander, receiving his B.A. in Percussion Performance. In his studies at Mansfield, Michael had hands on experience with teaching percussionists throughout all levels of playing ability. During his time at Mansfield he was a composition student of Dr. Andrew Walters. Michael is engaged in a variety of musical groups performing with and writing for various instruments and styles.
While singing and playing bass in his touring original reggae band, Elephants Dancing, Michael performs with regional orchestras, various mixed chamber ensembles, and also several fusion music groups such as A Fire with Friends.
Though percussion is his most used skill, composing for the concert hall is his passion. Michael plans to continue his education with a Master’s degree in Composition and a Doctorate degree in Music Theory. Michael happily endorses Salyers Percussion. Michael’s music is published by Per-Mus Publications and C Alan Publications.
